Restoration Works Commence
Our Lady of the Rosary Church is now shrouded in scaffolding and repairs to the spire and cross will commence in coming days. The neon lighting on the cross is to be replaced with LED strip lighting which will illuminate the cross again for the first time in many years. The spire will be repaired and repainted with the perspex replaced. The roofing contractor will then replace all of the corroded
box guttering with newly designed box guttering to ensure that there will be no water backflow into the surfeits in severe rain events. The roof tiles will then be cleaned, damaged tiles replaced and the roof sealed and repainted, with the facia repainted to its original colour.
Confessional Reconfiguration
Plans have now been put out for quotes for the reconfigured reconciliation space as pictured below. The design incorporates existing timber features so as to blend seamlessly with the original facade whilst meeting Archdiocesan safeguarding standards and accessibility regulations. The old confessional will be reconfigured as a purpose built altar servers vestry with built in shelving and vestment rods and continue as the audio visual control room.
Liturgical Furnishings
The marble Baptismal font gifted to us by Bulimba Parish is being restored and will be installed in front of the Sanctuary, in the vicinity of the Ambry and Pascal candle when completed. The Ambry (Holy Oils cabinet) is due back soon. We are also currently in the design phase for a replacement Ambo (lectern) in a similar design to the existing Ambo but built in marble to match the Altar & Baptismal font.
